FAQ

Otaku AI — Frequently Asked Questions

Every question people actually ask about Otaku AI, answered honestly and in plain words. No confusing terms, no walls of technical talk — just straight answers.

Getting Started

The basics — what this is, how to use it, and what it costs.

What is Otaku AI, exactly?

Otaku AI is a chat assistant built specifically for anime fans. Instead of one generic chatbot, it’s split into ten focused modes, each one built for a different kind of conversation — from simple questions about a show to full roleplay with a character. You type naturally, like texting a friend, and it replies the same way.

Do I need to create an account to use it?

No. You can open the chat and start talking right away. Creating an account is optional and mainly useful if you want your past conversations saved so you can find them again later.

Is Otaku AI free to use?

Yes, the core chat experience is free. You don’t need to pay to ask questions, get recommendations, or chat with a character. If any paid extras exist, they’ll always be clearly separate from the free chat itself.

What can I actually ask it?

Almost anything anime-related. Ask about plot details, character motives, what to watch next, who would win in a fight, or just chat with a character for fun. If a question doesn’t fit one mode, it will usually still get answered, or you’ll be pointed toward a better mode for it.

Do I need to know anything technical to use it?

Not at all. If you can send a text message, you already know how to use every mode here. There’s no setup screen, no settings to configure first, and nothing to learn before you type your first message.

Is this only for hardcore anime fans?

No. It works just as well if you’ve only seen one or two shows as it does if you’ve watched hundreds. Casual fans get simple, clear answers, and long-time fans can go as deep as they want with follow-up questions.

Chat Modes

What each of the ten modes does, and when to use it.

What is Standard Brain mode for?

Standard Brain is the default, everyday mode. It’s built for general questions about anime — plot explanations, character reasoning, comparisons between shows, or anything you’d normally ask a knowledgeable friend. Most conversations naturally start here.

How does Currently Airing mode know what’s on right now?

Currently Airing mode pulls fresh, up-to-date schedule information instead of relying on old, memorized facts. Ask what’s airing this season, and you’ll get a real, current table with show names, studios, ratings, and next-episode timing.

What exactly happens in Character Roleplay mode?

You name a character, and the AI responds fully as that character — same tone, same attitude, same way of talking — instead of replying as a neutral assistant. It stays in that role for the whole conversation until you ask for someone else or start a new chat.

How good are the Anime Recommender suggestions?

The Recommender doesn’t just throw out popular titles. It groups suggestions by type and explains why each pick fits what you asked for. The more detail you give about what you liked or disliked before, the sharper the picks get.

What’s the difference between Mood Match and the Recommender?

The Recommender starts from a genre or a show you already like. Mood Match starts from a feeling — tired, nostalgic, hyped, whatever it is — and matches anime to that emotional tone instead of a category label.

What does Anime Search actually give me?

Straight facts — release year, episode count, studio, a short summary, and general reception. It’s built for quick lookups, not long conversations, so it’s the fastest way to check basic details about a title.

Can Character Creator design a completely original character?

Yes. You describe a personality, backstory, or power — even a single loose idea — and the mode helps shape it into a fuller character, asking questions along the way to fill in gaps you haven’t thought of yet.

How hard can Anime Quiz questions get?

You choose the difficulty. Ask for easy trivia if you’re new to a show, or ask for hard questions if you want a real challenge. You can also request a themed round, like villains only or opening songs only.

Does Power Scaling mode just guess who wins?

No, it explains its reasoning. It walks through each character’s known abilities, past feats, and weaknesses before giving a verdict, so you can see exactly how it reached that answer, not just the answer itself.

What kind of questions fit Philosophy mode?

Bigger, slower questions — what a story is really saying about grief, freedom, justice, or a hard choice a character made. It’s built for thinking something through, not for quick facts.

Do I have to pick a mode before I start typing?

No. You can just start talking, and the system will often route your question to the mode that fits best. Picking a mode manually just makes that matching more precise from the very first message.

Accuracy & Content

How reliable the answers are, and how spoilers and mistakes are handled.

Can Otaku AI get things wrong?

Yes, like any chat assistant, it can occasionally make a mistake, especially with very obscure or brand-new details. If something sounds off, it’s fair to double check, and giving more context in your question usually improves accuracy right away.

Will it spoil a show for me without warning?

It tries to be careful with spoilers, but the safest habit is telling it how far you’ve gotten before asking about later events. Mentioning “I’ve only seen up to episode 5” makes a real difference in how a reply is written.

Does it only know about popular, mainstream anime?

No. It’s built to handle niche, older, and less mainstream titles too, not just the handful of shows everyone already talks about. If a show has any kind of following, there’s a good chance you can discuss it here.

Is the currently airing schedule always accurate?

Currently Airing mode pulls fresh data rather than relying on information memorized once, so it stays far more accurate than a static list. Even so, delays or last-minute schedule changes from studios can occasionally cause small gaps.

Can I correct it if it gets something wrong?

Yes. Just tell it what’s actually correct, the same way you’d correct a friend mid-conversation. It will adjust its answer based on what you clarify.

Does it compare anime to manga or light novels?

Yes, you can ask how closely an anime follows its source material, whether it skips content, or where the anime currently stands compared to the manga or novel it’s based on.

Roleplay & Characters

How character conversations work, and where the lines are.

How realistic is the character roleplay?

It aims to match a character’s known personality, tone, and way of speaking as closely as possible, based on how they act in their show. It won’t be perfect in every single exchange, but it holds the character consistently across a conversation.

Can I talk to more than one character in the same chat?

You talk to one character at a time within a single conversation. If you want to switch, just say the new character’s name and the mode will move into that role.

What if the character doesn’t feel quite right?

Try being more specific about which version of the character you mean, since personalities can shift across a story’s timeline. Saying “Zoro from the time skip” versus “Zoro from early East Blue” often produces a noticeably better match.

Are there limits on what roleplay conversations can include?

Yes. Roleplay stays focused on personality, dialogue, and story-style conversation. It’s not built for harmful, abusive, or explicit content, and conversations that head that direction will be redirected or declined.

Can I use Character Roleplay for writing help?

Definitely. A lot of people use it to test dialogue ideas, explore how a character might react in a scene they’re writing, or just get a feel for a character’s voice before writing them into their own story.

Account & Privacy

What happens to your chats, and how your information is handled.

Are my conversations saved?

If you’re signed in, your chat history is saved so you can return to earlier conversations. If you’re not signed in, your current session still remembers the conversation while your browser tab stays open, but it won’t be saved after you leave.

Can I delete my chat history?

Yes. You’re able to clear saved conversations if you no longer want them stored, whether that’s a single chat or your full history.

Is my information shared with anyone else?

Your conversations are used to run the chat and improve how it responds. They aren’t shared publicly, and they aren’t tied to your identity beyond what’s needed to operate your account.

Do I need to give an email address to chat?

No, not for basic chatting. An email or account is only relevant if you want features like saved history across visits.

Can I use Otaku AI without logging in every time?

Yes. Most people use it without ever logging in. Logging in is simply an added convenience, not a requirement to chat.

Devices & Access

Where and how you can use it.

Does Otaku AI work on mobile phones?

Yes. Every mode works the same way on a phone as it does on a computer, and the chat screen adjusts automatically to fit smaller screens.

Do I need to download an app?

No. Otaku AI runs directly in your browser, so there’s nothing to install and nothing taking up storage space on your device.

Which browsers does it work with?

It works on all modern browsers, including the default browser on most phones, tablets, and computers. Keeping your browser reasonably up to date is the only real requirement.

Can I use it without an internet connection?

No. Since replies come from a live system rather than being stored on your device, an internet connection is needed for every conversation.

Is there a limit to how long I can chat?

You can chat for as long as you like in a single session. If a conversation gets extremely long, starting a fresh chat helps keep replies quick and focused.

Does it work in languages other than English?

It’s built with English as the primary language, though it can often follow along with other languages reasonably well. For the smoothest experience, English currently works best.

Feedback & Support

What to do if something goes wrong, or if you have an idea.

What should I do if I get a strange or broken reply?

Try rephrasing your question or adding a bit more detail first, since that solves most odd replies. If something still seems clearly wrong, there’s a way to report the specific message so it can be looked into.

Can I suggest a new feature or mode?

Yes, feedback and suggestions are genuinely welcome. Otaku AI has grown over time based on the kinds of conversations and requests real users bring to it.

Why did a character or mode stop responding correctly mid-chat?

This usually happens after a very long conversation. Starting a new chat almost always fixes it, since it gives the mode a clean, focused starting point again.

How do I report something inappropriate?

There’s a report option available directly on messages, so you can flag anything that seems off without having to leave the chat or dig through a separate settings page.

Is Otaku AI actively maintained and updated?

Yes. Modes, accuracy, and features are refined over time based on how people actually use the chat, so the experience today is not the final version — it keeps improving.

Still have a question?

The easiest way to get an answer is to just ask directly — Otaku AI can usually explain itself better than any page can.
